Strong backlighting by the sun shows up the delicate stripes in a leaf.

@Curly: Thanks. I was experimenting with my new macro lens and the depth of field is very shallow. You have to be careful to make sure the right part (and enough) of the image is in focus.

Is this a sword plant? It's a great image, with the strong lines, and bold colors. I also really like it because of the few colors, I'm partial to those kinds of images. Really well done, a very interesting image.

@Bob Towery: Thanks Bob. I'm a complete novice when it comes to identifying plants. I think it might be a type of cabbage palm but that's just a guess.

@MARIANA: Thanks. Macro lenses have incredibly shallow DoFs, so it's easy to get this kind of effect.
